Introducing Sir Smooshy!

I’d like to introduce my one and only offspring…Smooshy. Also referred to as Sir Smooshkins, The Smooshster, and Smooshy Bear. Real name, Hendrix. He was born on October 18,2009 weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches long, oh and did I mention he was dead as a doornail? Yup, that beautiful lil peanut you see above was born limp and gray, completely unresponsive and unable to breathe on his own. His agpar came in at a whopping ZERO...talk about an epic fail! (For those of you non mama and papas out there, the agpar is bebe's first test based on their breathing, muscle tone, pulse, ect.) But due to the wondrous and magical workings of the staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and a week long stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) he is now alive and well.

It is this little munchkin that has served as the inspiration behind this blog. I mean who wouldn't be inspired by my mini dude? He is obviously the cutest ,most delicious, baby alive in the universe, right now and forever and always. In fact i blame his cute factor for my current lack of a social life. Based on my schedule as of late (see below) I no longer have time for silly, frivolous things like date nights, martinis, personal hygiene, friends, or family. Ok so seriously I can NOT tear myself away from this kid. I'm obsessed...Hendrix may want to consider a restraining order.

A Day in the Life of Yours Truly:

7 am change baby

7:05 am feed baby

7:45 am stare at baby while he sleeps

8:25 am anylyze baby's upper lip

8:53 am encourage baby to "poop it out" while having a bought of gas

9:12 am contemplate the beauty of baby's chubby knuckles

9:33 am stare at baby while baby does nothing but blink back

start the cycle over again

rinse,wash,repeat.

How long can one go while still enjoying this monotony? So far I'm happily content but I'm sure as time goes on i'll start to feel the stirrings of my old self from deep within. My bets are on month two before boredom starts to rear it's ugly head. Until then i'm off to count my son's eyelashes and chew on his thigh rolls.
