Home is Where the Heart Is

We looked at a loft yesterday and fell in love. I'm dying over. Trying sooo hard not to get my hopes up but everyone cross everything you can possibly cross for me!! I'm not even going to go into detail about its awesomeness. It has everything we could want. The only downside is it's not in our favorite location but I figured there would be some compromise.

I'm feeling ready but no lie, I'm scared. So many WHAT IF's when you rent and at this point buying doesn't seem like a good option.
I prefer stability and security and I think this experience was a lesson that noting is ever set in stone. This whole year was really.

But the biggest lesson this year?

That it really does not matter where we live or what our place looks like. Home is where the heart is.
So many nights over the last few months spent with my family huddled in a cozy bed for cuddles and love and I can assure you it felt just the same at the in laws as it did in our fancy loft or our old farmhouse. Still just as sweet and right. I know that no matter what the future holds, no matter how many bumps or bruises or financial hits we may endure, I've got the best of the best in my boys.

So...
NOW it's time for the fun part. Decorating! Howsa 'bout some home decor inspiration...
This is what I'm going for...

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your nightmarish landlord. You could have brought suit, but he'd probably try to make your lives even more hellish. I'm absolutely obsessed with your pictures, though!

  2. My husband & I are like serial movers. We moved into the house we brought our son home to when I was about 4 months pregnant. But a few weeks after our son was born we decided we wanted to be closer to my family (which was about an hour ride) so we packed up and moved. 4 months into that lease my parents bought a house an hour away and again we knew that for the sake of my SAHM sanity we needed to be close to them (plus if we moved to this new area we'd get a bigger house for much less) so we packed up & moved. At the end of our lease there we find out our landlord is in foreclosure & my husband might have to go record an album in LA for 6 months. It didn't make sense to sign another lease so we moved in with my parents thinking we'd be moving to LA soon. Here we are 8 months later and we don't have to move to LA and we're still living with my parents. But my husband and I travel so often for his job that we don't think it makes sense to spend money on a place that we'll only be at a week or two a month. But I am counting down the days when we have more of a stable schedule where we can move on. Have fun decorating!

  3. I feel your pain! We left the home Kannon was born in when he was 6 months old for a new place and what we thought would be a better life. After that failed, we found ourselves moving again nearly 8 months pregnant with a 10 month old. I hate it. Moving stinks. But, we now have an awesome house, proof that it was well worth the wait....and the hassle. Good luck!!!!

  4. dude! i love your style! it's so airy and yet, full of life and color. my apartment is the smallest place on earth - 950 sq ft. AND at 1110 dollars a month. can you say expensive? it's all we can afford here... and we don't want to buy and deal with the hassle of moving all over the place with the military. i really feel you. it sucks not feeling secure.
