Lately Hendrix has become obsessed with his Daddy's turntables. OBSESSED. He understands how to take a record and put it on and start it up. This is something that my husband didn't push onto him, it's just turned out to be something he is really interested in. In general, musical toys seem to be his go to. Other loves include a mini drum set and his tambourine. After seeing his Uncle Mark play the harmonica, Henry will pick up anything from a remote control to a crayon and pretend he is playing the harmonica as well. This got my thinking. How much of our kids interests are nurture vs. nature. I think inherently everyone has passions that are within him. How much of that is just plain DNA?

Obviously, I know that at 14 months my son is not destined to be a DJ just because he has taken a liking to his dad's turntables. At the same time, what are the chances that his favorite things in the house all happen to be musical?

I don't have a heck of a lot of aspirations for my son. I want him to be decent, kind, humble, loving, ect. ect. but as far as his actual profession? I could care less as long as it makes him happy.

For those of you with older kids, do you see them picking up on your passions? Do you think its because you passed it along to them through nurture or nature? What about those of you with littles who are the polar opposite than you, how do you connect with their hobbies?

I am happy to say we are all moved in and beginning to settle. I'll do a blog tour of the new place soon. I have some very exciting job opportunities that have come my way and I am looking for childcare for the bean. This Mamas is going back to work. Well, work from home. part time at least. I can NOT wait to share them with you all.

"This Woman's Work" By Greg Laswell a cover of the classic by Kate Bush.

Greg Laswell is amazing. His voice is soothing and perfect for pre nap cuddles.He has a fabulous album full of covers that I highly recommend picking up. I love this song. Kate Bush isn't an easy one to cover but he nails it.

I am so feeling summer right now. I wanna BBQ, throw a block party, set up a lemonade stand, run barefoot in the grass and roll down hills. I want to relax by the lake, camp in a tent, and cook s'mores on the fire.
My summer to do list is in full swing and it feels so good.

I have been listening to this song on repeat ever since one of my fav mommy bloggers posted it a week or so ago. Then my fav daddy blogger made an insanely beauutiful wedding video to it. Then another one of my fav mommy bloggers posted it. So its apparently pretty popular. Below is the video Ryan from Pacing The Panic Room made. The song starts at the 2:20 mark. I recommend you watch the entire video but if your in the mood for good cry hit up the 4:33 spot. Sweetest daddy/daughter moment ever. When I saw him mouth 'I love you so much" I lost it.

The thought of any parent and their child having to be separated just kills me. I love this movie and this scene is so sweet and endearing. I teared up a bit watching it. I'm on the hunt for a download of the soundtrack. I think it needs to be added to my playlist, no?
